It is so hard to know what lies ahead for any of us. We have seen and read other notices
about people reducing their herd numbers or selling their entire herd, but never thought
this would happen to us so soon. We now find ourselves stepping into some shoes that have
gone before us.
Both of my parents have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and need
a lot of attention to help keep them on “this side of reality”. Both are 87 and there are
no other siblings. It’s time for us to step up and offer more of our time. We will be selling
some of our donkeys to “buy more time”, something none of us ever seem to have enough of
these days.
We want to do this now since many of our girls are bred and can be
in their new homes when it is time to have their foals rather than foal them out on our
farm. For any donkeys sold, we ask they be picked up as soon as possible to help reduce
our work load giving us the time needed to attend to my parents.
We will be offering
both of our jacks, Racer and Cimmaron, in this herd reduction. They have both served us
beyond our expectations. Racer has, at last count, 85% jennet offspring. With both of our
jacks being related we have never kept one of our foals. It is time to search for another
bloodline so when we do retire from donkeys in the future we can actually retire at Wit’s
End, with Wit’s End Foals born right here keeping us forever at Wit’s End!

note: Sandy & Bob do not have a level spot on their place to measure donkeys. We measured
them several times the day we took new photos of everyone and always posted the highest
measurement. I purchased several of her donkeys that day and when I brought our donkeys
home and my husband trimmed their hooves and we re-measured them on our concrete floor they
all measured about 1/4" to 1/2" shorter than the measurement we took at Wit's End Farm.
So I can assure you that all their donkeys are shorter than the heights that are posted.
This group of donkeys is one of the nicest herds I have ever seen. If I had the money and
the room for more jacks they would all be at my home now!
