32" Dark Brown Jennet
DOB: 5/12/99

Sire:  LN Redsonne, 32" Red
Grand Sire: LN Redsonnehi, 31½" Dark Red
Grand Dam: LN Red Raspberry, 35¼" Red Frosty Roan

Dam:  Southern Mtn. Horse Co. Tulip, 33¾" Dark Brown
Grand Sire: Southern Mtn. Horse Co. Zorro, 31" Smoky Black w/NLP
Grand Dam: Gardner's Auburn, 34"  Brown

We have decided to keep a couple of our foals born this past year and will be offering a couple of our mature jennets for sale. We would love to keep this beautiful red/brown jennet but we simply cannot keep moms and babies this time around.

This jennet has personality plus! Sonflower was quite a “showgirl” before she was retired from the show ring and became an excellent brood jennet. Take a look at her show record below and you will see she was a real show stopper. Her pedigree is impeccable and she passes her gene pool right on to her foals.

Sonflower’s last foal was born in March 2007, Pop the Cork aka Corky. She had been bred to Itsy Bitsy Burro Co. Majestic and they produced a very stocky brown, with some red highlights, little jack. Breed her to a sorrel Jack and there is a great possibility they will produce a nice sorrel. One thing for sure it will be a keeper with a sweet personality. All of her foals have been very lovable.

Flower is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and she has recently had her teeth floated by our equine dentist.

Call and make an appointment to see and or hear all about this awesome girl who will be a great asset to your herd.

Flower had a fantastic show season in 2001 her last year to show before she was retired as a brood jennet. She topped the year off with a Grand Champion title at the International Mule and Donkey Congress in Springfield, Illinois.

The following is a list of her awards:

  • 2001 ~ International Livestock Exposition ~ Halter Jennets ~ 1st Place
  • 2001 - International Livestock Exposition ~ Grand Champion Miniature Donkey
  • 2001 ~ Oak Ridge Easter Mule & Donkey Show ~ Halter Jennets ~ 1st Place
  • 2001 ~ Mule-A-Rama Hospice Benefit Donkey Show ~ Halter Jennets ~ 1st Place
  • 2000 ~ Oak Ridge Easter Mule & Donkey Show ~ Halter Jennets ~ 3rd Place
  • 2000 ~ SC State Fair Mule & Donkey Show ~ Halter Jennets ~ 3rd Place
  • 2000 ~ NC State Fair Mule & Donkey Show ~ Halter Jennets ~ 3rd Place
  • 2000 ~ Dixie Classic Mule & Donkey Show ~ Halter Jennets ~ 1st Place
  • 2000 ~ Dixie Classic Mule & Donkey Show ~ Grand Champion Jennet

It’s been a while since we have had any donkeys for sale but this time around we have decided to sell a few of our mature jennets and keep their foals.

    We are offering KJ…..Kristen Joy, who truly lives up to her name “Joy.” She has the sweetest personality and has passed all of her loving ways right on to her precious, jet black, jennet foal, Jazz-A-Belle, born this past November 18th, 2010. KJ and Badlands did a great job with this little girl.{see Jazzy on our Foals Page}

KJ is a top of line, excellent pedigree, great conformation, dark black, no visible cross, jennet who foals easily, is a great mother, but more importantly, she is kind, gentle, and loving. We’d love to keep her, but, by deciding to keep a couple of our foals, we must offer some of our top-of-the-line jennets for sale at this time.

KJ is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and has recently had her teeth floated by our equine dentist.

Please call and set up an appointment to meet and see KJ or call if you have any questions.

KJ was bred to Wit's End Badlands Marauder and foaled a gorgeous true black jennet on 11/18/10.  You can see photos and videos of Wit's End Jazz-A-Belle by visiting our foal page!

    Jennet
    DOB 3/31/07 @ 3:58am

    Birth Height: 22"

Sire:  My World Cimmaron,  32.75" Dark Sorrel (Red)

Grand Sire:    Windcrest Little Red Man,  31" Dark Red (Sorrel)
Grand Dam:  Windcrest Red Beau's Robin, 32" Brown

We were all so excited about Bridget's due date of March 17, St. Patrick's Day. We had several names picked out for her. However, that day came and went as many other's did as well and Bridget was getting SO VERY BIG and not close to delivery. I posted on the message board that if she went past 13 months, maybe she was bred to an elephant. That was my first mistake. Everyone wanted to know if a cross between a donkey and an elephant would be an "elephunkey." Thanks to one of our dedicated MareStare viewer, she sent us a picture of the, indeed rare species, the elephunkey. Click to enlarge image
Here is a picture of EL-Leigh Click to enlarge image No "phunkey" in this girl! No way I was going to name that "Little Soul" an elephunkey. This little bundle of sweetness is the cutest little red head you've ever seen. She certainly carries the best of genes from both her Sire and her Dam. Miss EL-Leigh has that short stocky body, strong stout legs, a gorgeous round rump, dark red , perfect bite, and personality PLUS! She will make an excellent addition to someone's herd and will be a show stopper for sure. We are offering her to some loving home that will love and appreciate her beauty and loving personality.

    Congratulations to

Now this little girl has really blossomed. Better be prepared to have her in your back pocket while you are in her paddock. Dayle Haworth was taking her picture and Fizz was all over her, hugging, pushing, getting her camera, hair, wanting ALL of her attention. Fizz has a best friend, Fancy Pants, and the two of those girls rule that jennet pasture. You can hear them thinking donkey thoughts...."pet me, rub me, scratch me, hold me, and don't touch any other donkeys but us". Dayle finally begged to be rescued. Click here to see how Fancy just had to horn in on Fizz's photo shoot. Some may call them pests but Bob calls them BOB'S GIRL.

Update! Fizz is now under the barn cam expecting her first foal on May 29th, 2007, sired by Cimmaron. Click here to help us welcome her foal into the world.

Racer has many foals due this year. Reserve them now as they go quickly. Pictures of his 2007 foals will be available soon. Watch for them as they are absolutely gorgeous!

The photos above were taken on May 23rd, 2007, of Racer straight out of the pasture in his winter coat that he has not yet shed. He needs his hooves trimmed so he would probably be shorter but we measured him to be right under 32.5" tall. See our 'herd sire' page for clipped photos of Racer.

This little donkey is nothing but a love bug that follows you everywhere but she's not a pest. She just wants to be near people. We think she is finished growing and her hooves needed trimming when we measured her so she is probably a little shorter than 31.5" tall. What can I say about a girl who stole our heart several years ago. Her name was originally Carmel, but my husband Bob fell in love with her when he saw that full set of garters. He requested her name be changed just for him to Carrie! (can you tell he was/is a fan of the TV show Sex in The City?) We did purchase her as a pet as she does have an underbite....hoping it may straighten up as she matured. We really didn't care if it did or not we loved her so much.

When she turned 3 we decided to breed her and see if she passed on her underbite. Unfortunately, she did so we decided to share her with someone else who could enjoy she and her first foal, Ms Garter's Garnet aka G.G. a spunky little red girl as pretty as they come.

We are trying to considerably reduce our herd size so we felt it was time to share Carrie, her adorable personality, garters, and loving personality with another special family. She sold the first day she was offered. These two girls will be loved just like they have been at our farm. Had to be SPECIAL people who wanted SPECIAL donkeys. "a match was made at first sight" Thanks to Diane and her husband Bill who wanted these girls to become part of their family. Congratulations!

Carrie foaled a dark red jennet on 5/14/07. Visit our newborn page to see photos of Ms. Garter's Garnet, aka G.G

All I can say about this girl is she is now WOMAN! The long wait for her to turn three has been well worth it as she has been such a joy to us. She and her best friend, Fizz, rule the brood jennet pasture and engulf you for all the attention you can shower on those two. Fancy is in the elite group of BOB's GIRLS. Kelsie has been bred to Sunset Acres Racer, for a late 2004 foal. We are very exited about adding Kelsie to our herd. She has such a soft manner about her and enjoys the company of everyone. She had a gorgeous spotted jack last year, Priceless. She has been bred to Sunset Acres Racer for a Dec. 2004 foal. This should be an awesome foal for someone to receive this Christmas! (gift wrapping not included) :O)

Update! Kelsie foaled a very unusally spotted jennet foal on Christmas morning! Visit our 'foal' and our 'for sale' page to see more photos of Hallie!

KiTerra Ebony is such a striking small dark black/brown jennet with no light points. She is registered as smoky black but right now she is very, very dark brown because she was just body clipped. She will darken back up in a few weeks if we keep her out of the sun.. She had the cutest little spotted jack in 2004. She has been bred to Racer for a late May, early June 2006 foal. Breeding NLPs to NLPs shouldl produce a very small dark no light points foal from pairing these two donkeys.

KiTerra is a very sweet and gentle jennet. She does not like to be in a big herd but enjoys the individual attention she gets in a small herd. She always has a best friend that she bonds with so she is not lonesome. She had a gorgeous spotted jack foal in 2004 named Indian Scout. She foals easily and with no trouble whatsoever. In the pictures above she is 12 months pregnant so any minute we will be seeing her new foal for 2006.We are very anxious to see what she and Racer have planned for us this year.

She is very close to due date so act fast. Her price is subject to change after she foals which is any time now. Mom and baby can be sold together or may be sold separately. Time is real close on this beauty. Pictures above were taken on June 3rd, 2006 right after she was body clipped..she looks different shades of black/brown in the photos due to the sun going in/out while we were photographing her.

Update! Guess the secret to getting a jennet to go on and have her foal is to give her a body clip! We clipped her June 3rd and she had Wit's End Racer's Rembrandt June 4th. Rembrandt is an exceptional black jack with nlp and no visible cross at this time. See his photos on our foal page. Check back for update on new price.

It is a rare occurrence when one observes the phenomenon of foxfire. This is exactly why we chose this name for our new "black cherry" foal. We continue to marvel at his deep rich color and his elegant conformation. He embodies all the qualities of his extended pedigree and the progeny of 'The Fireman', 'Rearview', and 'My World' will be carried on in his future offspring.

We were anxiously awaiting his arrival as his mother had "white milk" for 39 1/2 hours. We knew he was exceptional the minute he was born as his dark sorrel color was very evident even though he was still wet. My good friend, Dayle Haworth, was here for the big event and she decided to use a hair dryer on him so we could see his true color right away. So, at just 15 minutes old, Foxfire had his first "trip" to the Hair Salon. Wet or dry he was still that deep, dark sought after color one looks for in a herd sire. Drafty, tiny, straight, exceptional color, and a winning personality all in one package! Foxfire will be a great asset to any herd and will steal your heart the minute you lay eyes on him. He looks up with those big brown eyes with red eyelashes, wags his tail, and follows us everywhere we go. He has not been in the house....yet!!!!

What a little tank! This fellow has a show presence about him even at this early age. What potential this little guy possesses. Spot will make an excellent pet, companion donkey, show gelding, or driving donkey. He has that strong conformation that does so well in cart training. She loves to have attention and is a very sweet natured jennet.

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a sorrel breeding age jennet with sorrel jennet foal at her side. We have several of our sorrel girls turning three years old this Spring and will be breeding them for the first time. We, therefore, have decided to offer some of our brood jennets that have had foals for us For Sale. Rosebud is an easy breeder and has a very soft and gentle nature about her. Calliope's Bloodline was to closely related to both of our jacks so we decided to sell her so someone else could enhance their brood jennet herd with an outstanding jennet with a fantastic bloodline. Just take a look at this beautiful girl as she speaks for herself. Brite Eyes was purchased for our former herd sire, Windcrest Sweet William. We wanted only the best for him and Brite Eyes was one of our selections. "Willie" was, however, related to several of our other sorrel jennets so we made the difficult decision to sell him and purchase another sorrel jack, My World Cimmaron. Herein lies the problem that we now have with Brite Eyes and with Zena, another jennet that we have decided to sell for the same reasons. Brite Eyes' grand sire is My World Buster and we can not breed her to Cimmaron as his sire is My World Buster. This ,too, has been a very difficult decision for us as we think Brite Eyes is top of the line in conformation, temperament, pedigree, and that color is to die for. It is a rich dark red and some have called it that much sought after dark cherry. Her pedigree carries the My World, Sunset Acres, Circle C Black Russian, and Red Lightening names. What a line up of ancestors. She'll certainly be a fine addition to someone's herd. Feel free to inquire about this awesome jennet. A real show stopper!!

Talk about "Knock Your Socks Off!" This little girl will surely do it. She is built like a little tank and has great conformation. Her pedigree is to die for. On her dam's side she has 'My World' back for four generations! Zena is one of the most lovable little girls we have in our herd. It has taken us since April of this year to come to this final decision to offer Zena for sale. This has been so difficult as she is one of our top and favorite jennets and so sweet and loving. We purchased her to be bred to our former herd sire, Windcrest Sweet William. He was so special and needed the best jennets we could find for breeding. However, he was related to several of our other sorrel jennets and could not breed to them so we decided to sell him and we acquired My World Cimmaron. Herein lies the problem. Cimmaron and Zena have the same sire, My World Buster. Not a better sorrel pedigree to be found but unfortunately we cannot breed Zena to Cimmaron. She is all anyone would want in a drafty sorrel jennet and can be bred in Sept. of 2004. She is adorable and a real sweetheart that will immediately give you her heart. We have really spent hours talking over this situation and feel it is best to offer her to someone who can use her in their breeding program to enhance their herd. Her offspring should be fantastic as she has both My World and Rearview in her extended pedigree. Can't get any better!!!

Willow is a kind and gentle jennet who produces some of the nicest foals we have had at Wit's End. She had a gray-dun jennet last year named Shug who was precious and now Soldier is going to be a herd sire for his new owner. Willow passes along her sweet gentle nature to her foals and will be a great asset to her new owner. Both Willow and Soldier are doing fine at their new home.

Shug is exactly everything her name says. She is very sweet and loving and wants to be right by your side. It appears she is going to be very tiny like those in her pedigree. She carries black, sorrel, brown, gray-dun throughout her entire pedigree. She truly has the color connection behind her. Shug has been weaned and ready to go to some loving home where she can make someone very happy. What a great CHRISTMAS GIFT she would make someone this year. Put her on our lay-a-way plan and have your shopping done early.

Cricket is a very tiny little jennet with a narrow cross. She has a light muzzle and belly with a dark little nose. Behind each little foot, right above her hoof, is a white spot which is adorable to see as she walks away from you. She will definitely be your shadow and best friend. Cricket loves to get attention but loves to give it even more. Her mother has the prettiest brown spots on her and even has some that are shaped like a heart and some spots with halos. She will be weaned in November and would make someone a wonderful Christmas present. Put her on lay away now for that special someone or even for you!

Congratulations to the proud new owners of Cricket. Jennifer and Eddie Baker of Mt. Juliet, TN. When Cricket is weaned she'll be going home with them so check back for a picture of the happy new owners.
